Unfortunately, a plethora of false idolatry is not uncommon here in Thailand. Buddhism, Folk Buddhism, Animism, temple worship, and spirit houses for protection against other spirits.

My team bought me beautiful orchids for my 37th :) Then I was able to take a lovely swim before my two hour massage, Thai style, given by a warm "mom & pop" shop down the street from where the Malones live. I paid a whole $18 dollars for the deluxe package! I plan on fancying this shop again prior to departure!






This week has been full of highs and lows spiritually, emotionally and physically.

Teaching English has been a great means to reach the unreached. God has opened this door wide open. Our various ministries have consisted of: prayer walking, reaching those in prostitution via teaching English and bar ministry, and teaching in slums and poor governmental national schools. These ministries have been incredibly rewarding! Seeing first hand glimpses of HIS fruit transpire in this place, even in spite of ourselves, God continues to work in and through us. What an honor it is to serve on the front lines affirming Our Lord's Sovereignty in this forsaken place.

Unfortunately, I have been violently ill again, went to hospital where I was diagnosed with tonsillitis. Quite unbelievable really! Despite my feeble, finite self, God is faithful and continues to pursue me in these dark moments of physical exhaustion. I'm learning much about my walk in faith! (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Life here...

As I ponder upon this 36 year, I'm grateful for both the blessings and life lessons God has bestowed graciously upon me. I'm a work in progress and more is always being revealed!
A few days ago I had another bought of the Thai stomach crud and it was horrible! Needless to say, God used that time of sickness to root out character defects I've chosen not to look at or deal with for quite some time. (Ephesians 3:13-21).
I'm convinced His timing is perfect in all things!

Teaching in Samut

It's amazing to see first hand how excited Thai children are to be amidst farangs (foreigners). Their child like response to both learning and foreigners are something we can all glean from. (Luke 18:17)
We have had the privilege of teaching in the Word of God, Noah's Ark, making boats and animals out of construction paper and pipe cleaners. Working with God's children has simply been a joy!

Have I mentioned the depravity here? Physical, emotional and spiritual. The means by which people live and the things in which they are subjected to are beyond words. I wish more eyes could see this? It's quite surreal, and yet, in spite of this forsaken place, God is present! The few believers who are in Samut claim Him boldly regardless of their circumstances.

We've been prayer walking amidst the poverty! And today we had church with a local elder who lives in the slums. Her home is built on wood beams that stand two feet above stagnant, contaminated water. Her home is no different than the hundred of degraded dwellings that surround it. She sews, sleeps, and cares for her family in a dwelling no bigger than an 8 by 8 ft room. She reminds me of the Samaritan woman who, in spite of her situation, surrenders her livelihood in the name of Jesus.

Arrival in Samut

The journey began two weeks ago starting in Seattle. Pastor Brian, Lisa, Mick and Sherrie were found in the same restaurant as my Auntie Sally, Sandy (her friend) and I. The Olive garden, of all places! An impromptu prayer "send off" was ordained in the parking lot, sending me off with blessings and armor which set the mood for EDGE orientation 2009 down in West Palm beach Florida. Finally meeting my team was a real joy!

EDGE training equipped us as a team, unifying us in the body of Christ! The long 26 hour treck overseas was covered with God's grace. We were most grateful for HIS provisions, as we arrived safely to Samut Prakan.

The Malones and Greg (long termers) have welcomed us with open arms; sharing their space (literally), knowledge and understanding of this area. They have been most gracious in sharing their vision God has pressed upon their hearts. They are compelled to work in Samut slums for the advancement of God's Kingdom! They are saints who, by heeding His call, have recklessly abandoned themselves, so that He may be glorified amongst the nations. I realize how blessed I am, to be under their discipleship. Samut Prakan

As I sit in mi casa with less than a few hours prior to travel, I am awe struck in how fortunate I am to be serving overseas in the name of Yeshua. I pray, in earnest, God continues to work in and through me concerning humility, serving with a lowly contrite spirit. And as I sit, ill at ease, weak and feeling as if I want to puke. I know I'm exactly where God would have me be.

To recognize Powerlessness is a good thing! For I am no better or worse than Thai people, my wretchedness stinks just as bad as the next sinner standing next to me. It is through grace I'm saved! Radical, sweet God given grace! May God take this broken vessel and use it for His Glory and Kingdom, so that, others may repent, savoring the Sweet smell of their Savior, King Jesus, upon Salvation.
