Have I mentioned the depravity here? Physical, emotional and spiritual. The means by which people live and the things in which they are subjected to are beyond words. I wish more eyes could see this? It's quite surreal, and yet, in spite of this forsaken place, God is present! The few believers who are in Samut claim Him boldly regardless of their circumstances.
We've been prayer walking amidst the poverty! And today we had church with a local elder who lives in the slums. Her home is built on wood beams that stand two feet above stagnant, contaminated water. Her home is no different than the hundred of degraded dwellings that surround it. She sews, sleeps, and cares for her family in a dwelling no bigger than an 8 by 8 ft room. She reminds me of the Samaritan woman who, in spite of her situation, surrenders her livelihood in the name of Jesus.
We've been praying for you and we're glad that you can keep us updated with this blog. All is well here in Juneau. Still enjoying a beautiful summer. A little rain the past few days, but the sun seems to shine at some point daily which is wonderful. Dane is just loving being outside riding his gike (bike) so we are loving the sunshine. :) Love ya, Paula and da boys. :)
There's beauty and ugliness everywhere you find people, right? May God use you guys to bring out the beauty and bless people in the midst of the ugliness. Thanks for posting!
Jesus's internal suffering was much greater than any human man could bear. His continued sorrow is uncomprehensible. I pray for God to choose many that surround you. For him to stir up discerning hearts who seek knowledge. In his power, he will provide a way through art, and other means of communicating, his sacrafice, love, and truth in whom he has already prepared to embrace it. May your bodies see through his eyes, the ones he has picked for you to plant seeds of eternity in. Blessings!
